The Grosse Pointe Academy is an independent day school enrolling boys and girls in a Montessori Early School (ages 2 ½-5), a Lower School (Grades 1-5), and a Middle School (Grades 6-8). Founded on Christian principles as the Academy of the Sacred Heart in 1885, the school was reincorporated as The Grosse Pointe Academy under the original charter in 1969 and has as its mission to respect all religious beliefs and cultures while honoring the value and growth of each individual child.
The Academy advantage lies in the sense of community at the heart of the school, and in the personal touch and individualized attention that is the hallmark of quality teaching. This advantage continues into high school, college and beyond, when graduates, equipped with a strong academic foundation, solid study skills, and firm character growth, continue to excel in their chosen areas of study.
