Interview Q&A
How long have you been in business?
Detroit Steeplejack has been repairing church steeples since 1993.
What is your primary product or service?
We repair church steeples by resolving the maintenance issues that are common to them. Sometimes the copper metal roofing is coming loose and needs repair. Often the paint is peeling and needs a new coat. We commonly find wood rot resulting in carpentry repairs. The structural integrity can become compromised by high winds. We repair that also.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
My name is Bryan Dulsky. I have always enjoyed working at height. I was also born with a natural mechanical ability. When entering any city I am always looking up to the incredible architecture that exists above. In my early 20's I started a roofing business to support myself through college. It led to moderately high projects, and it provided a lot of great experience, but I knew I had to higher. Soon churches were employing me to repair their slate roofs. Word got around that I was skilled in that area. But I still was not completely fulfilled. So I convince them to let me repair their steeples. 30 years later I am very experienced handling all of their repair needs.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
Detroit Steeplejack is a small business. All climbing work is performed by myself. Groundwork is performed by an assistant. This enables me to completely control quality. Since I am a bit of a perfectionist in the work that I do, and because I want these historical structures to last many generations into the future, Detroit Steeplejack is able to guarantee quality long-lasting repairs.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
We only have one location in Detroit. It is a 2000 square foot shop where I store the equipment and supplies. There is no plan to expand. But someday there will be a need to bring on an apprentice to learn some of the skills and expectations these churches will require well into the future.

We accept check and Paypal.
Which areas do you service?

Who owns your company or runs daily operations?
I am the proprietor. My name is Bryan Dulsky.
What are your hours of operation?
We are open every day but Sunday.
What is the best compliment anyone can give you?
If someone tells me I am kind and generous that makes my day.
What is your favorite quote or Bible verse?
I would rather state that waking up early bright-eyed and bushy-tailed is the best way to start the day.
